BECO is among the pioneers of the engineering sector of Pakistan. BECO (Batala Engineering Company), was founded and led by C.M. Latif. The company was established in 1932. The company operated out of two rooms and a veranda in its early years and after its Independence, the company experienced tremendous success.

BECO played an important role in spearheading the nation’s economic development in its early days. The company set the standard for the engineering and steel industry in Pakistan, while also supporting the economy by employing over 6000 workers.

Today, BECO is one of the biggest providers of state of the art kitchen appliances and steel ware in the country

BECO’s old Head Office was located on Grand Trunk Road, Batala (India). The company was one of the oldest and most prominent producers of steelworks, steel foundry, steel rolling mills, iron and non-ferrous foundry, machine tools, diesel engines, structural shops and general engineering supplies.

It was one of the first companies in Pakistan and the sub-continent to join a venture with a multinational KSB Pump Engineering in an attempt to expand.

The company’s contribution to the economy of Pakistan remains unparalleled. As a force of employment generation, the company laid down the standard for workers’ welfare and created work shows that improved efficiency tremendously and allowed the company to develop.
